Today, Saturday, December 2, 2023, is the scheduled day for the parliamentary primaries of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) in orphan constituencies.
Some 111 constituencies without any current Members of Parliament would be the sites of the elections.
In a statement, the party described the procedures used to ensure the integrity and fairness of the voting process.
Additionally, the party urged the committees in charge of the constituency parliamentary elections to make use of the same locations as the most recent presidential primary.
In the event that a venue change is judged essential, constituency executive committees are recommended to work with their respective regional executive committees, according to a previous statement.
In the meanwhile, the selection of parliamentary candidates for the party’s MP-serving constituencies is set for January 2024.
