Cillian Murphy Hints At Big Surprises In Upcoming Netflix Peaky Blinders Film

Oscar-winning actor Cillian Murphy has teased what fans can expect from the highly anticipated Peaky Blinders film, offering new hints about the upcoming Netflix release that continues the story of Tommy Shelby.

Murphy will return as Tommy Shelby, the iconic leader of the Birmingham gang, in the film titled Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man. The movie serves as a continuation of the hit television series and is expected to bring the long-running crime drama to a powerful conclusion.

Speaking about the project, Murphy revealed that stepping back into the role required careful preparation both physically and mentally. He explained that revisiting Tommy Shelby meant reconnecting with a character he has portrayed for more than a decade. The actor admitted that returning to such a complex role was a deliberate process that involved re-immersing himself in the character’s mindset and history.

The upcoming film will take place during World War II, shifting the story to a darker and more intense period in history. The plot follows Tommy Shelby as he comes out of retirement to confront a dangerous Nazi-linked conspiracy threatening Britain.

Murphy also hinted that the film will introduce important new characters who will shape the story’s emotional core. Among them is Duke Shelby, Tommy’s estranged son, played by actor Barry Keoghan. Their complicated father-son relationship is expected to play a major role in the film’s narrative.

The actor described the movie as a natural continuation of the Peaky Blinders story, noting that transforming the series into a feature film required condensing the story into a more cinematic and focused narrative.

Created by Steven Knight, the Peaky Blinders series first premiered in 2013 and became a global phenomenon, attracting millions of viewers around the world. After the sixth season ended in 2022, the creator confirmed that the story would conclude with a feature-length film rather than another television season.

Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man premiered in select cinemas in March 2026 and is scheduled to begin streaming on Netflix on March 20, 2026.

Murphy has suggested that the film will deliver a fitting final chapter to Tommy Shelby’s story, giving fans a dramatic and emotional conclusion to one of television’s most celebrated crime sagas.
