Ghana defender Tariq Lamptey has praised former Brighton & Hove Albion manager Roberto De Zerbi, stating that he enjoyed working with the Italian coach.
De Zerbi resigned at the end of last season, and Lamptey revealed his admiration for the tactician, acknowledging the positive lessons he learned from him.
Speaking exclusively to 3Sports, Lamptey said De Zerbi has a unique approach to football that broadens the perspective of his players. During his tenure under De Zerbi, Lamptey played nearly 40 Premier League matches and became one of the club’s most exciting players, showcasing his versatility by playing in multiple positions, including left-back, despite being a natural right-back.
“He’s an amazing coach; tactically, he makes you look at football from a different point of view. I’m grateful to have had different coaches to learn from because, as a player, that’s what you learn from – your experiences.
“You try to add as much to your game as possible, and the way he saw the game was different. We played some fantastic football, so I really enjoyed my time with him. I just try to use the experiences he gave me to add to my game and make me a better player,” Lamptey said.

As of now, De Zerbi has not secured a new managerial position, though several clubs are reportedly interested in him. Meanwhile, Brighton is in talks with German coach Fabian Hurzeler to be their next head coach.
Lamptey is currently in Ghana enjoying a well-deserved rest and will return to football when pre-season starts. He has expressed his willingness to work with any manager the club appoints.
