Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has addressed the circulating reports linking Chelsea winger Callum Hudson-Odoi to the Ghana national team.
Amidst rumours of Hudson-Odoi’s potential nationality switch from England to Ghana, Addo has expressed his openness to working with any committed player.
Callum Hudson-Odoi, who was born in England to Ghanaian parents, has an impressive track record with England’s youth teams. He has played three matches for England’s senior team, nine matches and scored four goals for England U21, seven matches and scored two goals for England U19, two matches and scored one goal for England U18, 22 matches and scored five goals for England U17, and two matches for England U16. Despite these appearances for England, Hudson-Odoi remains eligible to represent Ghana due to FIFA’s eligibility rules.
In response to the speculation, Otto Addo commented, “So far not yet. Also heard people saying this [Hudson-Odoi being invited],” he told 3Sports.
“To me, nobody came to me so far but we are open for everyone who wants to join. If somebody wants to join, a special player like him, we’re always open.”

He stated, “I think it’s very important that whoever comes buys into the Ghanaian culture. And the culture is very, very good. Ever since I’ve been here Muslims get along well with Christians, and we have different tribes. All I can say is, surely sometimes there are problems, but as a team, we all connect very well. This is so good to see that things can work even though somebody comes from this part or that part of the world. We all come together as one and this is so important.”
