Ngolo Kante impressed Manchester United legends Gary Neville and Roy Keane with his outstanding performance in France’s victory over Austria during Euro 2024.
Despite a two-year absence from the French national team, Kante’s return was marked by a stellar display that earned him praise from both pundits.
Gary Neville highlighted Kante’s pivotal role in securing the win, emphasising the impact of the veteran midfielder’s performance on France’s successful start to the tournament.“He’s not a holding midfield player who just stays there, he’s everywhere on the pitch and runs forward and Rabiot just sits back and balances off.”
“I thought he was absolutely outstanding tonight, it was a fantastic performance and he was the best player on the pitch. A couple of years ago he looked finished but he has had a second lease of life,” Neville said.
Neville’s former teammate Keane also was full of compliments for Kante while also claiming the midfielder played as if he was young again.“He was brilliant and he has that vast experience. I think what he is really good at as well obviously is we talk about breaking the play up but it’s when he does the other bits as well.
I’m delighted to be back- MVP Kante after impressive Euro 2024 performance
“He’s sharp with his passing, he obviously covers the ground we know that, his decision-making is excellent but he is neat and tidy with his passing and loves a little one-two. He can pass it forward, makes runs forward and he looked like a younger version of himself tonight,” Keane said.
Kante was adjudged as the best player on the night as he picked up the Man of the Match award.Fans will be hoping to see more of the former Leicester City player when Les Bleus face the Netherlands in their next game.
