Nacho departs Real Madrid after decorated career

Nacho has officially left Real Madrid after a remarkable career that saw him win 26 trophies, including six European Cups.

The 34-year-old Spain defender, who joined Real Madrid’s youth academy at the age of 10, made 364 appearances for the senior team following his debut in 2012.

Nacho’s final appearance for Real Madrid was the recent 2-0 Champions League final victory over Borussia Dortmund, a match that saw him become one of only five players to win six European Cups with the club.

Currently with the Spain squad at Euro 2024, Nacho is expected to join Saudi Arabian club Al-Qadsiah.

Reflecting on his departure, the defender shared his thoughts: “It has been months of reflection, indecision, and doubts, but I come to tell you that I need to live one last and different experience with my family, and this is the perfect time.”

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez praised Nacho’s contributions: “Since he arrived at our youth academy as a child, Nacho has been an example to everyone and has earned the affection, recognition, and admiration of everyone.”

Despite being injured, the centre-back remains with the Spanish squad for the ongoing Euro 2024, embodying his commitment and dedication to both club and country throughout his illustrious career.
