Kotoko coach Prosper Ogum undergoes successful surgery after short illness

Asante Kotoko coach Prosper Ogum has undergone a successful surgery after a short illness, the club announced on Wednesday.

They did not specify the illness that necessitated the surgery but confirmed its success, with Ogum now focusing on returning to full fitness ahead of next season.

“Our head coach, Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum has undergone a successful surgery after a short illness. We wish him a speedy recovery and look forward to having him back soon,” the message on social media read.

Ogum, who is also a member of the club’s Interim Management Committee, is leading the restructuring of the playing squad. The club has parted ways with 19 players, including goalkeeper Ibrahim Danlad and striker Steven Mukwala.

“We need to do a lot of structural changes in the playing body with respect to signing of some players to augment the squad. This time not players from lower division but players who have seen it in the Premier League,” the 46-year-old told the club’s media earlier in the month.

“We need to go there as early as possible to make sure that the players that we want we are able to get them as quickly as possible.”

Kotoko ended last season trophyless, finishing sixth in the Ghana Premier League.
