The Police are on a manhunt to arrest a gang of four robbers who attacked a bullion van at Ablekuma Fanmilk, a suburb of Accra and shot the Police escort who has unfortunately passed on.
“Our prayers and thoughts are with the family of our deceased colleague in particular and all personnel of the Police Service in general.
“We wish to assure the public that we will surely get the robbers arrested to face justice,” the police said in a statment.
Background:
According to an eyewitness, armed robbers on Thursday attacked a bullion van shortly after it parked near the ECG office in Ablekuma Fanmilk at the Star Oil Fuel Station.
The criminals targeted the police officers inside the van, shooting them twice in the shoulder and abdomen, inflicting injuries. At the gas station, approximately fifteen gunshots were fired between the criminals and the on-duty police officers.
Unfortunately, the thieves were able to flee with the stolen money. Everyone is perplexed by the fact that the incident occurred during a maintenance period when all cameras were inactive.
The current location of the driver of the bullion van is uncertain. The injured officer has been transported to the hospital, and police have arrived on the scene.
