‘Try Me’ Is Not Something Am Super Proud Of It But…. SARKODIE

Ghanaian rapper, Michael Owusu Addo, popularly known as Sarkodie says his reply to Yvonne Nelson’s book, ‘Try Me’ is not something he is super proud of.

Although he is not super proud of the ‘diss’ song, he said he put it together because that is how he felt at the time.

He also stated that he recorded the track to decide later whether to put it out there or not but it was leaked earlier by an unknown person.

In the book, Yvonne discusses how she became pregnant for Sarkodie and aborted the pregnancy because he was not ready for a child at the moment.

According to Yvonne, the Rapper said he was not ready and the only option at the time was to go for an abortion.

She made it known that Sarkodie and his Manager drove her to a Doctor to have the abortion and left her there.

The Ghanaian rapper came under serious troll or ridicule after the information reached the public.

It was in the heat of the moment he recorded his reply, ‘Try Me’ where he said Yvonne was for the streets.

In the diss track, Sarkodie never denied the pregnancy but insinuated that he did not want Yvonne to abort the baby even though he was not ready to father a child then.

According to him, when he asked Yvonne to keep the child, Yvonne said she was rather focusing on her education.

A section of the public again chastised Sarkodie for insulting Yvonne.

In an interview with Wayup with Angela Yee in the United States, Sarkodie said he did not speak about it in the media because he might have lost how he wanted to present how he feels about the issue.

Sarkodie said this was not the first time he was responding to an issue with a track to address it,  adding that there are certain energies he hates to feed into because he might lose his cool.

With Yvonne’s situation, he said it is not something he is super proud of, explaining further that at that moment, that was how he felt, noting that there could have also been a better way to address it.

He said the issue was between two people which could have been spoken about but it made its way into the public.

Sarkodie felt because people know him for not speaking, they feel they can say something and he will not reply to them, adding that once in a while, one must speak.

When asked if he allowed someone to listen to ‘Try Me’ before putting it out there, Sarkodie replied that none of his team members were in support or even aware of the track.

According to him, he sneaked into the studio late in the night to record the song.

“Sometimes when I feel something, then the lyrics is going to come right there and then. So, I sneaked into the studio to record this; no one was there, nobody heard it because I didn’t want to hear the no advice, just literally wanted to do what I felt at that point and face the consequences later. But it wasn’t like the whole team sat down and said this was good to go, I did it personally for myself,” he said.

Sarkodie said in the heat of the moment, the person he did not hear from was his lawyer and when he sent a message to ask her “take on it”, she was dead at the same time, saying it was a very tough time.

Meanwhile, he said he will get to a point where he will speak about the issue, but for now, he was of the view that it is still fresh.
