Sean ‘Diddy Combs’ sentencing: Judge doesn’t find rapper apologetic
Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs in court as prostitution-related case hearing is underway
Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs has recently been slammed by Judge Arun Subramanian for his prostitution-related conduct.
In the court document obtained by ABC News, Judge Arun clearly said that the rapper has “challenged his factual guilt full-throatedly”.
The judge pointed out that the music mogul didn’t show remorse for the crimes he was convicted for.
It is pertinent to mention that Sean was convicted of transportation to engage in prostitution in connection with his ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura, as well as with another ex-girlfriend, who testified under the pseudonym ‘Jane’.
Earlier in July, the rapper was acquitted of racketeering and sex trafficking charges.
However, Arun mentioned, “The court can consider acquitted conduct for any reason other than changing the guidelines range.”
He further said that the “testimony and evidence related to those counts are relevant context to demonstrate the force Sean used to carry out the prostitution-related crimes”.
“There is no doubt that this evidence counts as coercion… There were threats of bodily harm in this case,” stated the judge.
Arun explained that he also considers seven escorts as victims who Sean claimed he paid for entertainment.
The judge further said that Sean was the “organiser of ‘freak-offs’ and hotel nights and paid for the escorts,” therefore, he should be responsible for the conduct.
During hearing, prosecutors sought to push back on defense lawyers’ attempt to have multiple people testify about Sean’s character.
“The defense is trying to drown out the voice of victims in favour of character witnesses,” argued a prosecutor.
Meanwhile, the judge added that he will allow the rapper’s children and pastor to speak.
