Asante Kotoko terminate contracts of 7 more players

Asante Kotoko announced Wednesday that they have agreed to terminate the contracts of seven more players, bringing the total number of departures to 18.

This follows Tuesday’s announcement that the club had parted ways with 11 players, including long-time goalkeeper Ibrahim Danlad.

The seven players leaving are Samuel Asamoah, Nanabayin Amoah, Isahaku Fiseini, Rocky Dwamena, Richmond Opoku, Julius Ofori Ziggy, and Shadrack Addo.

These players struggled throughout last season, and coach Prosper Ogum has decided to release them as he looks forward to making significant changes for the next season.

Kotoko finished in sixth place after a challenging season, including a seven-match winless streak, leading to a crucial meeting with club owner Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

This meeting helped stabilize the team and resulted in key victories, including a 2-0 win against rivals Hearts of Oak.

The club ended the season without a trophy, prompting a major overhaul of the squad to improve performance in the upcoming season.

Kotoko are expected to make several signings, with early links to goalkeeper Benjamin Asare, who won the Golden Glove after keeping 17 clean sheets. Despite Asare’s impressive performance, his club, Great Olympics, were relegated.
