Ato Forson trial: The more questions you ask Jakpa, the more he reveals secrets – Kpebu

Private legal practitioner Martin Kpebu has said that he wants the cross-examination of the third accused person in the Ato Forson trial, Richard Jakpa to prolong because the more questions asked him the more he reveals secrets.

In the view of Kpebu, it helps Jakpa’s case if more questions are asked him to provide further information.

“The more this session drags on the good that it does as a society, especially for those of us in the criminal justice system or even the justice system as a whole is that it serves as a cautionary tale to us, because each day you hear Jakpa and Dame then you are like let me be careful about my phone, my conversations and everything.“So it is good, it is a cautionary tale for all of us, it should drag on because as it does it helps but most especially it is helping Jakpa’s case because the more questions they ask him then the more they lend credibility to his case, the more question you ask him the more opportunity you give him to reveal more sides to the case or more secrets,” Kpebu said on the News 360 on TV3 Thursday, June 20.

The High Court hearing the ambulance case has admitted the full WhatsApp messages between the third accused person Ricard Jakpa and Attorney-General Godfred Dame that were tendered in by the prosecution as evidence.

The court admitted the messages during proceedings on Thursday, June 20.

Jakpa had earlier admitted that the messages he presented in court did not capture the whole conversation. The messages he presented to the court were selected based on relevance to his case, he told the court during cross-examination on Tuesday, June 18.

The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Yvonne Atakora Obuobisa, had told the court about the volume of messages sent by Mr Jakpa compared to the limited responses from the Attorney-General.

The DPP sought to introduce all WhatsApp messages sent by Mr Jakpa into evidence.Mr Jakpa acknowledged introducing himself to the Attorney General before the trial and obtaining the Justice Minister’s contact information through his cousin, Supreme Court Judge, Justice Yonny Kulendi.
