BLACKPINK’s Rosé Makes History With Major BRIT Award Win

Rosé has reached a milestone for K-pop by becoming the first artist from the genre ever to win a trophy at the prestigious BRIT Awards. At the 46th annual ceremony in Manchester on February 28, she took home the International Song of the Year award for her global hit “APT.”, a collaboration with American singer Bruno Mars.

The achievement marks a groundbreaking moment in music history, as no K-pop act had previously secured a win at the BRIT Awards despite several past nominations by other Korean artists. Rosé’s victory demonstrates the rising worldwide influence of Korean pop music.

During her acceptance speech at the Co-op Live arena, Rosé acknowledged the support of her fellow BLACKPINK members — Jennie, Jisoo and Lisa — saying she loves and draws inspiration from them. She also thanked Bruno Mars for his role in the song’s success, describing him as a mentor and friend.

Released in October 2024 as part of her debut solo album rosie, “APT.” has become a global sensation with record-breaking chart performance and streaming milestones, helping build momentum for Rosé’s solo career.

Her historic win at the BRIT Awards not only celebrates her individual achievement but also highlights how far K-pop has grown on the international music scene.
