Donald Trump Jr.’s ’Disgusting’ Children’s Book Attack On Tim Walz Draws Condemnation
Donald Trump's son parroted his father's insulting of the Minnesota governor.
Donald Trump Jr. drew backlash over the weekend after sharing an AI-generated parody of a children’s book cover that targeted Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz (D) with an ableist slur.
On Sunday, the Trump scion posted on Instagram a fake book cover titled “Franklin Drives By Tim Walz’s House And Calls Him Retarded.”
The image showed beloved children’s character Franklin the Turtle driving past 2024 Democratic vice presidential nominee Walz, who is depicted in handcuffs and alongside a couple.

Critics on social media blasted the stunt as “disgusting,” “abominable,” suggested Trump Jr. is “the son of a narcissist following in daddy’s footsteps” and more.
The post appeared to blend the controversies of Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth’s sharing of a similar Franklin-themed meme (amid outrage over the Trump administration’s boat-strike scandal), and President Donald Trump’s attacks on Walz as “seriously retarded,” which Walz has claimed has inspired Trump fans to drive past his home yelling the slur out their car windows.
