Tristan Rogers plays Robert Scorpio in 'General Hospital'

Tristan Rogers gave devastating news regarding his health to his fans sending them into frenzy.

The General Hospital star has been diagnosed with cancer, as per his rep.

“While he remains hopeful and is working closely with his medical team on a treatment plan, this is a challenging time for Tristan and his family,” the rep shared with Deadline July 17.

“As they face both the emotional and physical burdens that come with this diagnosis, the family kindly asks for privacy and understanding.”

The 79-year-old is grateful for the kind of responses he and his family has received.

“They are deeply grateful for the outpouring of support and love from their friends and family,” the rep elaborated. “Tristan sends his love to his fans and wants them to know how much he appreciates their loyalty and encouragement over the years. This support means more to him now than ever.”

Though the type of cancer that he is battling with has not been disclosed with the viewers, the rep requests the fans to honour the actor’s right to privacy.

“Future updates will be shared if deemed appropriate by Tristan and his family.”

Rogers began working in the ABC soap opera in 1980 following which he made around 1,400 appearances.

His character Robert Scorpio last made his appearance on the long-running soap opera in November.

For the unversed, the actor starred in around 200 episodes of The Young and the Restless.

He also won a Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Performance by a Supporting Actor in 2020 for his acting chops in Studio City.
