Ghana defender Denis Odoi has signed a two-year contract with Royal Antwerp following his departure from Club Brugge on a free transfer.
Odoi, who made 39 appearances and scored three goals for Brugge last season, brings significant experience to his new team. He has joined the club’s pre-season after passing medical.
Odoi returned to Belgium in January 2022 after spending over five years at English Premier League side Fulham FC, where he had transferred from KSC Lokeren in 2016. The 36-year-old is expected to bolster Royal Antwerp’s squad with his versatility and expertise.
Since making his debut for Ghana in 2022, Odoi has earned 13 caps. He represented his country at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar and also featured in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast.
Odoi’s addition to Royal Antwerp is seen as a strategic move to enhance the team’s performance ahead of the new season. The club finished sixth in the Belgian Pro League last season.
His extensive experience and ability to adapt to various positions make him a valuable asset, and his leadership is expected to benefit the team’s younger players
