Former Mali captain Frederic Kanoute believes Inaki Williams deserves to be among the top three African Players in 2024 following the Athletic Bilbao forward’s stellar performance in the 2023/24 season.
Kanoute also had some words of praise for West Ham United star Mohammed Kudus who lit up the Premier League last season. Inaki Williams netted 12 goals in La Liga, taking home the La Liga African MVP award.
Mohammed Kudus on the other hand finished his first Premier League season with eight goals and was at the top of the dribbling leaderboard all across Europe.
“I would say it is difficult to [name my top three African players]. I am thinking about Inaki Williams who had a fantastic season with Athletic Bilbao. It’s difficult for me to give names but maybe I will say Ademola Lookman, Mohamed Salah and Inaki Williams,” Kanoute told 3Sports at a La Liga conference.
“I would like to see young players as well like Mohammed Kudus from West Ham. I think he has been really good and I really like his style of play. It is very multipurpose on the pitches.”
The spotlight will be brighter on both players next season for club and country, particularly the Black Stars who are looking for places in the 2026 World Cup and the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
