Jen Psaki Uses Not 1 — But 2 — Supercuts To Undermine Trump’s Latest Claim
The MSNBC anchor also slammed the "age-old mistake" the media just made with the president.
MSNBC’s Jen Psaki on Thursday called out news organizations that appeared to report as fact that Donald Trump will decide on U.S. military intervention in Iran within two weeks.
Psaki said the outlets made the “age-old mistake” of failing to add crucial context, noting that Trump has a long history of promising decisions or updates “in two weeks” and then failing to deliver.
″‘I’ll get to it in two weeks’ is one of Donald Trump’s absolute favorite tactics,” said Psaki, a former Biden White House press secretary.
“Most of the time, in fact almost every time, when two weeks rolls around, Trump has either completely forgotten about it whatever it was he promised in the first place or […] he’s hoping people have just moved on,” she added.
To prove her point, Psaki aired a montage of Trump repeatedly using the promise during his current presidency. She later followed up with a supercut showing him pulling the same stunt during his first term.
“It’s a big pattern,” Psaki said, highlighting a 2017 Bloomberg article headlined, “In Trump’s White House, Everything’s Coming In ‘Two Weeks.’”
On the Iran issue, Psaki suggested Trump just wants to keep kicking the can down the road. “He doesn’t mind speculation, the attention, but he doesn’t want to commit to a decision — and it’s not hard to see why,” she added.
