Former President John Mahama has secured overwhelming endorsement from Delegates of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to lead the party in the 2024 elections.
Former President Mahama secured 297,603 of votes cast representing 98.9% while Kojo Bonsu secured 3181 votes representing 1.1%.
Kojo Bonsu conceded defeat even before official results were declared by the Electoral Commission.
“I have placed a call to H.E. John Dramani Mahama to congratulate him for the landslide victory.
Just as I’ve indicated throughout my campaign, regardless of the outcome of this election I’ll continue to serve the NDC party,” he posted on his Facebook wall.
Dr Kwabena Duffour pulled out of the contest at the last minute, citing unfairness in the party’s electoral process.
President Mahama thus leads the party for the second time after being defeated in the 2016 elections, with almost a million vote gap
