Savannah Guthrie Family Describes Heartbreak And Frustration With Investigation Into Nancy Guthrie’s Disappearance
The family of Savannah Guthrie, well-known co-host of NBC’s Today show, has shared publicly that they are deeply heartbroken and frustrated with the handling of the investigation into the disappearance of the anchor’s 84-year-old mother Nancy Guthrie. Nancy, who has health challenges and requires daily medication, was reported missing from her Tucson, Arizona home on February 1, and authorities believe she was taken against her will.
According to sources close to the family, the emotional toll of the ongoing search has been immense. Friends of the Guthries say the family feels that time is critical and they want every resource possible to be used swiftly to find Nancy. There is growing talk of hiring private investigators to supplement the official work being done by the Pima County Sheriff’s Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation as days go by without a major break in the case.
Sheriff Chris Nanos has strongly denied claims that his department has hindered the FBI’s access to important evidence such as gloves or potential DNA material in the case, calling such suggestions untrue. Officials from both local and federal agencies continue to process and analyse all available evidence while following thousands of leads from the public.
Nancy’s disappearance has drawn wide attention not just because of her daughter’s prominence on national television but also because of the mysterious nature of the case. Surveillance footage released by the FBI shows a masked individual at her front door in the early hours of February 1 and investigators have increased the reward for information that could lead to locating Nancy or the person responsible.
Savannah has publicly emphasised that she does not want the situation sensationalised but instead wants clarity answers and the safe return of her mother. Support from friends, fans and other voices has poured in as the search continues and the family remains hopeful that a breakthrough will come soon
