Onua Ghana Durbar: GM charges traditional authorities to be beacons of hope, stability ahead of December polls

General Manager of the Onua Brands of Media General Ghana Limited, Stephen Schandorf, has charged traditional leaders to be beacons of hope and stability as the December 2024 elections beckons.

Reemphasising the imperative of peace in such critical periods, Mr. Schandorf has underscored the role of traditional leaders in ensuring Ghana goes through the exercise in a peaceful atmosphere.

This, he said, could be achieved by the exemplary deeds of the leadership to whip up the masses along in such critical moments.

Speaking at the second edition of the Onua Ghana Durbar held at the lorry park of the University of Ghana Stadium at Legon Friday, July 26, 2024, the General Manager stated that “I am proud to stand before you, knowing that we are united by a common goal: to ensure that this December’s elections are conducted in a spirit of peace and unity.”

On his exposition of the theme for the event, ‘The Role of Chieftaincy in Peace During the Elections in December this Year’, Mr. Schandorf explained that the event was “both timely and significant.”

“As we approach the elections, the responsibility of ensuring a peaceful and harmonious process rests heavily on all of us, particularly on our revered chiefs and traditional leaders who have always been the custodians of peace and harmony in our communities,” he stated.

“I urge all our traditional leaders to continue their exemplary work, to be beacons of hope and stability, and to remind their people of the importance of peace during this critical period,” he indicated.

He stressed that the gathering was not only to engage in meaningful dialogue but also to “celebrate the vibrant tapestry of our rich heritage and traditions.”

The Onua Ghana Durbar is an annual event to demonstrate the splendid display of cultural wealth, showcasing the beauty and diversity of Ghanaian traditions which highlights the values and unity that bind the citizens together.
