Rumer Willis Responds To Claims She Lives Off Her Parents’ Money
Actress Rumer Willis has publicly addressed recent gossip suggesting she depends on her famous parents for financial support, firmly denying that she lives off money from Bruce Willis and Demi Moore. The 37-year-old took to her social media on Monday to set the record straight after seeing comments implying she benefits from her parents’ wealth.
Rumer, who is raising her 2-year-old daughter, Louetta, as a single mom, shared an Instagram Story explaining that she works four different jobs and is the sole provider for her child. She insisted she does not receive money from a parental trust fund or financial help from either Bruce Willis or Demi Moore, and that most of the time she manages parenting responsibilities on her own.
“Just had to clarify since it seems there are quite a few uninformed and rude people in my comments on this post,” she wrote, summarizing her position and pushing back against assumptions. Rumer emphasized that while she acknowledges having privilege, she doesn’t rely on her family as a backup plan. She said that she has faced “real financial stress and responsibility” at various times in her life, including periods of inconsistent work and pregnancy.
After one follower commented that she likely has a financial safety net, Rumer responded thoughtfully, saying she understands that some people’s experiences differ but that her post was about common struggles rather than comparing hardships. She stressed there’s room to recognize both individual challenges and broader life differences without dismissing either.
Rumer’s post came in response to a playful video about daily life as a single mother, where she shared glimpses of her busy routine, and it sparked discussion that led her to clarify her financial independence. She continues to work in film and television while raising her daughter with ex-partner Derek Richard Thomas.
