Taylor Swift’s Role in $400 Million Controversy Gets Major Update

Even Taylor Swift’s boyfriend, Travis Kelce of the Kansas City Chiefs, has seen his name dragged into the highly controversial legal dispute between Blake Lively and her “It Ends With Us” co-star Justin Baldoni.

Back in December, Lively filed a lawsuit against Baldoni, alleging sexual harassment while they were filming their movie. Baldoni vehemently denied the accusations and responded by suing Lively for $400 million for defamation, among other things.

In an unexpected turn of events, Kelce reportedly unfollowed Lively’s husband, Ryan Reynolds, on Instagram amid rumors of a rift between Swift and Lively. In a previous report, it was revealed that Swift had been “seeking support from Kelce during this trying time.”

According to one of Baldoni’s legal filings, Lively used Swift’s name to try to influence him to make the changes that Lively wanted on their film. Baldoni alleged that Swift was also present during a post-production meeting in Lively’s New York City apartment.

Lively’s legal team has now spoken out about Swift’s involvement in the case, which reportedly includes Swift potentially being subpoenaed in court to answer questions under oath.

n a new interview with People, Lively’s attorney, Mike Gottlieb, confirmed that Lively is expected to take the stand as a witness in her upcoming trial. Gottlieb also addressed the reports about Swift, along with other celebrities such as Reynolds’ “Deadpool & Wolverine” co-star, Hugh Jackman, potentially appearing in court as well.

“It’s completely unclear what claims or defenses in the case any of these celebrities… have any relevance to at all,” Gottlieb told People exclusively. “This is a case about what happened to Blake Lively when she raised claims of sexual harassment on the set. It’s not a case about how songs were chosen for the movie. It’s not a case about fictional Marvel characters in Deadpool movies.”

While Gottlieb did not directly confirm or deny the possibility of Swift taking the stand, he did question the veracity of Baldoni’s claims and the actor-director’s decision to drag Swift into the mess.

“You have to ask the question, then, why are these people being subpoenaed?” Gottlieb continued. “Do they have any actual relevance to the case at hand? You can’t just go around subpoenaing people because they’re famous and you think it will generate a bunch of headlines. And the federal courts don’t tolerate that kind of behavior.”

For what it’s worth, reports have indicated that Swift was “really hurt” by this entire situation and that “it wasn’t something she took lightly.” Nevertheless, Swift and Lively have reportedly made amends and have been “able to recover” from the spat.

Be that as it may, this does not take away from the fact that Swift could still be questioned under oath for her role in this legal dispute.
