Teddi Mellencamp Shares Scary Health Update During Ongoing Stage 4 Cancer Fight

Reality television personality Teddi Mellencamp has shared a worrying update about her health while continuing her battle with stage 4 cancer. The former Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star revealed that she was recently hospitalized after experiencing a serious medical reaction that caused painful sores across her body.

Speaking on her podcast Two T’s in a Pod, Mellencamp explained that she initially believed she had the flu after feeling unwell for several days. However, her condition suddenly worsened when she woke up with severe rashes and burning sores covering large parts of her body, including around her eyes and inside her mouth. Doctors later urged her to seek emergency treatment at a hospital.

Medical specialists diagnosed her with Stevens-Johnson syndrome, a rare and potentially life-threatening condition often triggered by an allergic reaction to medication. The disorder causes blistering of the skin and mucous membranes and requires urgent medical care.

Mellencamp received immediate treatment with steroids and antibiotics while doctors monitored her closely in hospital. Fortunately, her condition gradually improved after several days of care, allowing her to recover enough to return home and spend time with her family.

The health scare comes amid her ongoing fight with melanoma. Mellencamp was first diagnosed with stage 2 melanoma in 2022, and in 2025 doctors confirmed that the cancer had progressed to stage 4 after spreading to her brain and lungs.

Despite the seriousness of her illness, the reality star has remained determined to continue treatment and maintain a positive outlook. She has undergone numerous surgeries, immunotherapy sessions, and other treatments as part of her cancer battle.

Mellencamp has frequently used her platform to raise awareness about skin cancer and the importance of early detection. Even while facing physical and emotional challenges, she continues to share updates about her health journey to encourage others to prioritize medical checkups and pay attention to warning signs.
