Kelly Klein, who was once married to fashion designer Calvin Klein, has built a rich creative life of her own years after their divorce. She first met Calvin while starting out in the fashion world after studying at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York. Early in her career she worked as a design assistant for Ralph Lauren before Calvin offered her a position at his label after crossing paths at Studio 54.
The couple married in Rome in 1986 and were together for about 20 years, though they were separated for roughly half of that time before their divorce was finalised in 2006. Even after separating they stayed on good terms and have been seen together at fashion events, including Calvin Klein’s New York Fashion Week show in 2025.
After leaving the fashion industry Kelly shifted her focus toward the creative arts. She became a successful photographer with work featured in major magazines and published several photography books that celebrated her personal vision and experiences. She also explored interior design and launched her own ceramics business, blending her artistic eye with her entrepreneurial instincts.
In addition to her creative endeavours Kelly divides her time between homes in Palm Beach and the Hamptons, pursuing her passion for equestrian activities and spending time with her son Lukas, who was born by surrogate in 2007. Her photography and artistic projects have continued to be recognised and appreciated, establishing her identity beyond her connection to Calvin Klein.
